“Wings of hope carry us,
soaring high above the driving winds of life.
Clouds come floating into my life,
No longer to carry rain or usher a storm,
But to add colour to my sunset sky.”
For as long as she can remember, a bride has been dreaming and musing about her wedding, everything from the big to the tiniest details. This is a dream the bride does not see alone, it’s one she shares with her entire family and her tribe. And with this, seeds of hope are planted in the hearts of all. After all, like all beautiful things, hope too grows when it is shared. For Monica and Karishma, that is what makes every bridal-wear so important. For a JADE Bride a lehenga is much more than a piece of garment. It represents her, her vision and her journey of a lifetime. It captures her thoughts and feelings. It captures a long-held dream finally turning to reality.
‘Weaves of Hope’ pays homage to these facets. It’s richly detailed to capture the many nuances of the bride and this incredible time. The colours are lush and enchanting – berries, reds, pinks – vibrant tones that symbolise joy, excitement and hopefulness. We’ve used Kasab and lace on dreamy fabrics like organza and tulle to create a mood that is simply otherworldly and perfect for intimate weddings. The collection presents intricately handcrafted Ek Taar and Kasab lehengas and textured skirts, antique silver threadwork jackets. Each ensemble is underscored by the atelier’s masterfully crafted accessories like the silver threadwork bibs, Ek Taar belts, embellished mules and cross-body sling bags.
Showcasing this collection at our first ever digital fashion week at Lakme Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2020, felt like a particularly surreal and unique experience. We used this opportunity to bring together two art forms: couture and dance to express feelings that simply can’t be put in words. The show and the collection are all about liberation from what’s weighing us down, for free-spirited movement and an aura so ethereal it can only be matched by the bride who’s drawn to it. That’s not all. Lakme Salon, India’s largest salon chain and JADE by Monica & Karishma came together to launch a breathtaking collection titled ‘The New School of Brides’ - a dazzling showcase of distinctive hair and makeup looks and exquisite bridal couture at the first ever digital and fluid edition of Lakme Fashion Week 2020.
